Storage Media

Sony AIT (Advanced Intelligent Tape) format is intelligently engineered to stand apart - no other tape cartridge features both an MIC chip (the brains) and a pure metal magnetic layer designed for maximum capacity and longevity (the brawn). The SDX3-100C features 100GB native, and 260GB compressed capacity. AIT-3 is scalable and backward compatible with previous generations.

LTO Universal cleaning tapes are equipped with a computer memory chip. This chip stores various information and it has an embedded code that is recognized by the compatible drive's firmware. Once the cleaning cartridge is used to capacity, 15 - 50 uses dependent on the drive, the drive will no longer accept the cleaning tape and will eject the tape, prohibiting further use.

Quantum's LTO-7 tape drives deliver reliable data protection with tremendous capacity and performance at an affordable price. In addition, they use less power than LTO-5 drives, making a "greener" and more energy efficient solution.

Quantum media cartridges are manufactured to industry standards for quality and reliability, ensuring low error rates, high performance and long-term durability. Quantum media allows you to archive your data with confidence. The Quantum media family offers you more choices to better manage your data over time, and now includes LTO Ultrium tape cartridges. The LTO Ultrium tape format has been optimized for high capacity and performance with outstanding reliability, in either stand-alone or automated environments.

Exhaustively tested, HP LTO Ultrium cartridges meet all your demands for maximum reliability when restoring data, offering high storage density, ease of management and scalable storage and backup performance. Covering five generations of capacity - LTO-1 (200 GB), LTO-2 (400 GB), LTO-3 (800 GB), LTO-4 (1.6 TB) and LTO-5 (3 TB) – and with transfer speeds of up to 1 TB/hr for LTO-5, there is a platform for every need and budget. From LTO-3 onwards, LTO Ultrium WORM cartridges enable the creation of compliant, permanent and tamperproof archives. From LTO-4 onwards, secure AES-256 encryption provides even higher levels of data security and compliance with the most stringent industry regulations to prevent unauthorized data access. From LTO-5 onwards, LTO Ultrium Linear Tape File System makes using tape as easy, flexible, portable and intuitive as using other removable and sharable media, such as a USB drive.

The introduction of Sony LTO (Linear Tape Open) demonstrates company's commitment to the mid-range server market and offering a full line-up of data media products. Sony's LTO media provides high reliability and durability which is achieved by using a magnetic layer formed by ultra-thin coating technology, enabling high-density recording and high output. Sony's precision tape manufacturing technology brings out the full potential of LTO for high reliability back-up.
